Xian Warner

I like to explore the quirky and wonderful aspects of daily life around me which glisten, fleetingly, through the corner of an eye. Over the past few months I have also been working on documenting the essence of Beijing's fast-depleting hutongs which, for me, make up the soul of Beijing. I am fascinated by photography's ability to foster cross-cultural understanding and communication but also wary of its capacity to promote cultural stereotypes.

Lukas Birk

Movements and shadows in silence. The stirring feeling of knowing that one sees without out knowing what. Cafe Zarah shows a selection of Lukas Birks photographic exploration "Junsui" which reveals mysterious forms and movements in black and white. A dimension immersed in the black of secrets. Far away from reality. Or as Lukas would put it, "A photograph is never the reality we know of it is always its own dimension."
