I like to explore the quirky and wonderful aspects of daily life around me which glisten, fleetingly, through the corner of an eye. Over the past few months I have also been working on documenting the essence of Beijing's fast-depleting hutongs which, for me, make up the soul of Beijing. I am fascinated by photography's ability to foster cross-cultural understanding and communication but also wary of its capacity to promote cultural stereotypes. www.xianwarner.com

Julia is one of the owners of Café Zarah. Photography has been a passion for almost two decades. Starting with still life photography she started to reflect pieces of everyday life with the camera, exploring a new way of seeing things around her.
